For the better part of Monday October 11, 2021, Cassper Nyovest’s support base shifted from South Africa to Zambia where he trended on social media for the entire day.

Nyovest emerged a favourite for Zambians in the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) as opposed to their own Hip-hop star Slapdee. As the trend was, Zambians would vote for Cassper and not Slapdee in the awards.

Both artists landed a nomination under the category of Best Male Artist in Southern Africa.

Slapdee has had an ongoing battle with his huge fan base over his decision to do campaign songs for PF party some few months ago. In defense, he told Zambians that while the moves may have angered them, it was just business.

So, when Cassper came into the picture, Zambians said they would support Cassper because it is ‘just business’.

“Okay Zambia I get it... So it's just business??” Cassper posed.

Earlier, media personality and DJ Paige Ethy condemned Slapdee critics noting that they should always remain objective and rise above political beef.

“I’m very disappointed with some of the comments here and what some of you are doing, this is the reason why Zambian music does not grow this should be beyond political beef if he wins Zambia is on the map. Anyways lesa amepale kano nga ndimwe!” she wrote.

With the pressure on Monday, Slapdee formally opted out of the AFRIMA Awards.

“As a sign of remorse, I have asked management to withdraw my AFRIMA nomination with immediate effect because what’s winning a trophy when you can’t win the hearts of your own people?” he posted.
