When news of Slapdee’s nomination for 2021 AFRIMA Awards hit the media, it was yet again a defining moment for Zambia.

For the third time in a row, Slapdee was nominated for the award of Best Male Southern Africa Artist. He is battling it out with the likes of Focalistic (South Africa) Shimza (South Africa) and Jah Prayzah (Zimbabwe) among others.

But, it is the negative energy by some fans that has baffled Zambian media personality DJ Paige Ethy.

When Slapdee posted that he was nominated for AFRIMA awards, and was seeking Zambian votes, the post attracted love and hate in equal measure.

“I remain optimistic and grateful for the nomination. 3rd time in a row. I trust one day we’ll bag it,” he posted.

Reacting to the post, a section of fans said they will not vote for him, owing to his decision to work with the ruling party PF in the last elections.

Slapdee, Macky 2, Nez Long, Mampi among other Kalandanya Music Promotions (KMP) artists composed campaign songs for PF party.

This did not sit well with a majority of their fans who bashed them so hard, especially after the rival party UNPD won the Zambian presidential polls.

While reacting to these comments, Paige said it was so wrong for Zambians not to support their own just because of politics.

“I’m very disappointed with some of the comments here and what some of you are doing, this is the reason why Zambian music does not grow this should be beyond political beef if he wins Zambia is on the map. Anyways lesa amepale kano nga ndimwe!” she wrote.

Nonetheless, fellow artists led by Mampi Queen Diva rallied behind Slapdee as he seeks victory in the AFRIMA Awards.
