Throwback: Kenyan one-hit wonders who came and disappeared!!
14 November 2013
They came, they saw, they conquered then disappeared and were never to be heard from again. One hit-wonders are all over and Kenya is no exception.
The Music industry in Kenya is very competitive and for any artist to remain relevant in the game then he/she should cbe consistent in their song releases at the same time making sure it has good content.
Whether this artists run out of ideas or the inspiration to write music just dies, many we’re left wondering what happened to them after a good start with massive tunes under their names.
Below is a list of some of kenya’s one hit wonders. Although some tried to make a comeback, we all can relate to them based on that one songthey did.
#1 Shavey & Slice – Gyal. The best dancehall duo in Kenya and 7 years after the release of their hit song ‘Gyal’ the song still gets airplay and a big club banger.
#2 King Georgez – Unanijaz. I bet you had forgotten about the song and even the artist. Whatever happened to him and his music career we all accept that he was talented.
#3 Sema – Leta Wimbo. This group was formed in 2004 after the coca-cola popstar search. Kevo, Pam and Sana later parted ways in 2005 though we accepted and moved on, I wouldn’t mind if they re-group again and give us more hits.
#4 Henry Mutuku – Usichoke. Featuring Rufftone in the song, Henry was making a name for herself but something happened along the way. Only God knows what.
#5 Chantelle – Toklezea. If it wasn’t for ‘Toklezea’ ft Abbas the we would have never heard of Chantelle. I’m told she got saved but then we still need to hear from her.
#6 Ndarlin P – 4 in 1. "Mboof mbaf yoo, Ugitaka soma lebo, soma soma lebo na fioja live crew! Haha this song was hilarious. The guy should make a comeback we will accept him the way he is.
#7 Flexx – Nyundo. Although flexx released other songs afterwards, ‘Nyundo’ ft Juacali was his big breakthrough in the industry. We need more music Flexx.
