Zambian musician Slapdee has put to rest questions about the release of` late XYZ lead vocalist Daev’s album. While commemorating his death a few days ago, the ‘Osa Wala’ hit maker said it has not been easy trying to keep Daev’s legacy, but they are trying.

“Exactly one year since you left us to be with God. Keep resting in peace. It hasn’t been easy at all but we’re doing all we can to keep your legacy alive! Keep resting boy! Love you forever!” he paid tribute to the fallen singer.

Reacting to Slapdee’s message, a fan named Mutinta Umwaume said one of the ways to keep Daev’s legacy is by releasing an album in his honour. He took Slapdee to task in explaining why an album featuring Daev has not been released yet despite this promise.

“When are you releasing his album? You said it will be released,” he posed.

In response, Slapdee said releasing an album has been complicated because of lack of support from involved parties.

“It’s not that easy. We need support and go ahead from certain parties. Without it our hands are tied. If we dare go ahead without it and it happens to blow out, you the same people pushing for it will come back and call us “selfish thieves”. It will happen when everyone involved is ready,” he said.

In March 2021, Daev’s family moved to court suing XYZ Entertainment for allegedly withholding his royalties.

Daev’s mother, Martha Phiri sued XYZ through lawyer Simon Mwila saying that the court needs to issue an order compelling the label to release his royalties, and other monies paid to him through the label for adverts and other endorsements.

Martha is the administrator of Daev’s estate worth millions. She reportedly demanded K10,283 for damages caused by actions of refusing to release the money.
