Renowned Zambian musician Super Rhymer has opened up on why he took long before releasing new music, noting that he took a break to negotiate his contract renewal with his label Xplode+.

Super Rhymer went mute in October 2020 only to resurface in the middle of 2021. In an interview with ZMB, he also noted that he took time to reflect on his music journey and how to change some of the issues that were weighing him down.

“One of the reasons why I have been quiet from the last time I released my song was my contract had expired with my label so I was in discussion on whether I want to renew the contract or not,” he explained.

“I felt like we didn’t do well with distribution. I felt like on my end, I had put in a lot of work and my expectation was different from what I got. So it was a thing where I didn’t want us to be doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results,” he added.

He recently released his new song ‘Yahweh’ with a different feel where he talks of situations in life that have pinned him down.

It is moral filled song urging people not to be too quick to judge others because everyone has a story to tell about their life.
