Zahara Explains Meaning behind ‘Nqaba Yam’ Album Title

Celebrated South African musician Zahara has announced that she is working on visuals for the songs in her latest album ‘Nqaba Yam’.

“Off to shoot a music video today, Guess which song its for?” she tweeted.

Just like with her previous album ‘Loliwe’, which received a lot of love and became one of most popular albums in South Africa and beyond, Zahara has received so much love from ‘Nqaba Yam’.

The secret to the album’s success is the heavy pack of life lessons in her songs. She touches on life in general and about coping with loneliness and heartbreaks. When a fan inquired what ‘Nqaba Yam’ means, Zahara responded by saying it means endure.

“In English, Nqaba Yam means ‘Endure’,” Zahara explains. “It’s like a pillar or rock that you hold on to when there is a turmoil around you. It can be your Bible, your best friend, the Lord or anything that keeps your hope alive in tough times,” she added.

 The album couldn’t have come at a better time than now when the world is reeling in the aftereffects of the Covid-19 pandemic. It gives hope and encourages those who feel lost and weighed down by the many adversities that the pandemic brought. ‘

Nqaba Yam’ is Zahara’s fifth studio album which is following a path to success just like her four other studio albums. Her label Warner Music has hailed her new album saying it should be everyone’s dose of good music.
