Macky 2 Addresses His Legacy as he Prepares to Retire

If you are a music lover, you may have noticed a big change in Macky 2’s new style of music since the start of the year. He terms it ‘futuristic’ and the beginning of a new era for Zambia’s music industry.

This, he says, is part of his legacy in the music industry that he wants people to remember him for.

Macky 2 in a recent recording said he’s been having repeated moments of reflection which informed his musical journey. He is currently working on his last career album which is a representation of his legacy.

“It is great to make music that will top charts and music that will be playing in clubs like the biggest hits but I think it is important to make impactful music. Music that will stand the test of time.

“So lately, I’ve really really tried to make music that just don’t make sense in clubs but music that will touch people,” he said.

 Surprisingly, he says one of the things he has focused on is getting along with people he initially didn’t get along with as part of his legacy.

“I decided to deliberately start mending relationships with people in the industry who I feel like the situation here was a little bit awkward. I don’t get along with this person as well as I should. So, in the past few years, you’ve seen me collaborate with people you wouldn’t believe I would collaborate with just because I needed to finish strong,” he divulged.
