‘Toxic’ stirred the musical waters with many fans lauding the ingenuity of the song. But, it is a new sound which Bobby East is not known for given his solid rap and hip hop backgrounds.

In some cases, artists have killed their musical careers by changing their sounds or better still, genre that fans associate them with.

However, Bobby East is not worried at all. He is excited that he did a new sound in ‘Toxic’.

“I have always told myself that if I don’t motivate myself or push myself to go to like a different level, do something I’ve never done before then I am doing music for the wrong reason,” he told Joy FM during a recent interview.

The ‘Heaven’ hit maker says it is easy being comfortable doing the same sound over and over again but this is something he fights hard.

“…The music need to be fun like I want to be excited when I go to the studio so with this type of sound I’ve tried it a few times. I tried it with a sing called ‘Heaven’. I always tell people I am not scared to try a new sound,” he said.

With Toxic, Bobby says it is no different from his other songs because it is relatable.

Fans received it well with its core message being toxic love and toxic relationships that only end up in suicides.
