Zambian Artists Who released Political Songs Haven’t Been Paid - TV Presenter Claims

At the height of campaigns in Zambia, a section of artists decided to jump on the political wave and compose praise songs for different politicians, despite criticism from fans. Defending their move back then, the artists argued that they need money to survive, and since there are no shows, composing political songs was there next available option.

As controversy continues on this subject, claims have emerged that some artists who did political songs are yet to be paid. Diamond TV presenter Dingindaba Jonah Buyoya without naming any artist, recently said that he is wind of reports they are begging for payment after delivering great campaign songs.

“Apart from not being paid their money, some of the artistes are complaining that after putting their careers on the line, they never even get invited to perform anywhere. They agreed on moneys, which are still nowhere to be seen,” he tweeted.

His statement elicited sharp reactions from fans asking questions about all this. In a rejoinder, he said it is doesn’t bother him at all.

“Anyway, I've received enough complaints. But if I'm being honest, artists being paid or not paid for doing campaign songs is none of mine or anyone's business. They better have somewhere to go, otherwise, my tweets are only useful for taxpayers money, which is mine too. Lol.”
