Ugandan artist Irene Ntale has announced that she will only release new music after the current lockdown and other restrictions imposed by the government are eased.

The current lockdown has made it difficult for musicians to release new music, conduct promotional activities and secure huge earnings since shows are banned.

Ntale has been silent for quite some time. Her last project was 'Every Way' video that dropped nine months ago. During a Twitter interaction with one of her fans, Ntale noted that she has been silent due to the current Covid-19 situation in Uganda.

"I will release music when people are in a better state to enjoy it,” she said.

Ntale, however, noted that she is working tirelessly in the studio, recording music which she will be releasing when she feels the time is right.

Last year, she dropped a six track E.P titled ‘Sukaali' (translated from Luganda to mean Sugar) dropped mid 2020 with songs like Sukaali, Onkubira Ko, Every Way, Turn Up, Allergy and Mpima.

Meanwhile, it is almost two years now since shows were banned in Uganda due to Covid-19. Earlier this year, there was hope that public gatherings will be allowed, but a new wave of the virus hit the country prompting the government to order a total lockdown.
