Renowned Zambian radio presenter Paige Ethy has urged artists to produce clean content, arguing that it has clean content has a higher probability of performing well and staying around for long as compared to dirty content.

She recently said it beats logic when an artist with ‘dirty’ lyrics pushes his/her song for airplay in the media. Paige, a radio presenter with Kwaithu FM said she has no time to ‘clean dirty music’.

Paige emphasized that it is possible to do good music without insults or dirty lyrics as has been seen with some artists in the past.

“I don’t understand why you wanna insult in a song and you want airplay now you are giving me a program of cleaning your music…You don’t need to insult for you to sound like. Gee!” she said.

Over the past few months, a section of Zambian artistes have been on the spot for releasing videos considered as being inappropriate.

For example, in May 2021, Deborah stirred controversy with ‘Yalibapenya’ due its raunchy video and use of the word ‘Imputi’ to mean a woman’s posterior.

This was her debut song. She learned from the criticism and is now releasing clean content as witnessed in her latest jam ‘Takwaba Pressure’.
