Kalenjin hiphop artist beating all odds in pursuit of his passion for music

Success is about taking risks and striving to make the best out of everything regardless of the challenges. This is exactly what new gospel artist Kim Wella is doing.

We had to do a story on him because of his outstanding skills in music and determination to beat the odds.

The hip hop artist made his debut into the Mdundo TOP25 chart with his single ‘Kebee Gaa’, which has been done in Kalenjin dialect.

Wella has chosen to venture in the style; gospel hiphop in Kalenjin, and he is doing quite well.

“I wanted to be unique and at the same time reach out to people of all ages. People can listen and relate to my music at the same time set a trend as the first Kalenjin hip hop gospel artist,” he told Mdundo on phone.

Coming at number #16 on the TOP25 list, his song ‘Kebe Gaa’ seems to be catching on fast to his fans, and as he explained it’s a song that simply calls people to Christianity.

“The song basically asks people to forget about all the terrible experiences they have had in life and experience the peace and calmness of the Lord,” Wella noted.

He is currently working on a mix tape which will be ready for release in January next year.
