Meet Elaine: RnB Star Taking South African Music Industry by Storm

At just 21 years, Ndivhuwo Elaine Mukheli popularly known as Elaine is a superstar in South Africa. Music flows in her blood and she has defied societal pressure to quit music and concentrate on her law studies.

Elaine is bubbly, charming and charismatic. She has a unique vibe as a person and through her music. The year 2021 came with good tidings for her. First, she made a grand appearance with a powerful performance during Africa Day Concert in May. Then, she landed a BET nomination in early June. Although she did not take the award home, she is recognizes the nomination as a powerful statement on her career.

“Patience is virtue, the heart works best when humble and God is faithful. Wouldn't be here without my shining stars. Love you guys. Thank you @bet_intl @bet_africa,” she posted on her Instagram three weeks ago.

All this is recognition for her two-year stint in the music industry and she is not stopping anytime soon.

Elaine became an instant sensation in South Africa moments after releasing her debut EP ‘Elements’ in 2019. It topped giant music streaming platforms Apple Music and iTunes locally.

Despite Covid-19 hitting hard in 2020, Elaine remained on top of her game with Elements being elevated to Platinum. It was a major milestone given she did not hold a lot of concerts in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Elaine stands as South Africa’s most streamed female artist of her time. Her favourite tunes are ‘Risky’ and ‘You’re the One’. In 2020, she was nominated for South Africa Music Award (SAMA) for the best RnB/Soul album.
