Mdundo advances into Tanzania, includes Choamva nominee AY on mission

He is popularly known in East Africa as AY but in Mtwara Southern Tanzania, his hometown, friends know him as Ambwene Yessayah.

AY started out as a member of East Coast Army before quitting the group to pursue his solo project. He prides himself on being one of the first artists in Tanzania to commercialize rap music in the region.

He has done various collaborations with top African artists including Chameleone, Ngoni (Uganda), Amani, Nameless, Juacali, P Square, J Martins and the late Goldie among others.

The artist is among the many in East Africa nominated for Channel O Africa Music Video Awards under the categories of Most Gifted Male Video and Most Gifted African East Video with his hit ‘Party Zone’.

In our bid to stretch wings across East Africa, he is one of the top artists in the region Mdundo is looking forward to working with.

Already about six Tanzanian artists have been signed with Mdundo including Bee Man, Stamina, Jordani, Topc, Baby Madaha and Cindy Rulz.
