On Tuesday (May 11, 2021), netizens took to social media to commemorate the death of the legendary reggae musician Bob Marley who died on 11th May 1981.

Bob Marley was born on February 6, 1945, in Nine Miles, Saint Ann, Jamaica, to Norval Marley and Cedella Booker.

In 1977, Marley was diagnosed with acral lentiginous melanoma; he died as a result of the illness in 1981.

Taking to Twitter to celebrate his life, Kenyan celebrities, as well as fans, shared heartfelt messages dedicated to the late Bob Marley with others opting to write down lyrics from his extensive catalog.

Celebrated Kenyan comedian Churchill, shared a message in honor of Bob Marley, citing his impact in the world and encouraging his followers to find their calling, where their passion lies, as Bob did.

“On this day in 1981 singer & songwriter, Bob Marley passes on...He was 36yrs & impacted the world. Whatever your passion is..find your calling there,” he tweeted.

Another tweep celebrated Marley as not only a revolutionary artist but also recognized his fight for social justice and freedom.

“Today marks 40 years since the death of Bob Marley. Marley was more than an artist. He was a revolutionary artist who used his art to preach about social justice and freedom. Bob's legacy remains greater than ever, and his life and music will forever inspire generations to come,” he summarized.

Some of Bob Marley’s songs which are fan favorites to Kenyans include, ‘Buffalo Soldier’, ‘No Woman No Cry’ and ‘Zimbabwe’ among others.
