Gemma Griffith Serenades Zimbabwean Health Workers, Rallies Locals to Get Vaccinated

As the world takes on the Covid-19 pandemic with the hope of slaying the dragon, Gemma Griffith has turned to music advocacy urging people to get vaccinated.

The ‘Ndinewe’ hit maker recently got her vaccine jab for Covid-19. It was her first dose of the vaccine. She shared with her fans the good news urging them to be vaccinated.

“First dose done! Thank you to our nurses, and for everyone who has gotten vaccinated so far. Let’s keep it up and keep each other safe x,” she said.

In celebrating frontline health workers helping masses get vaccinated and attend to Covid-19 patients, Gemma serenaded them in a short, live musical piece which she shared on her Instagram page.

Zimbabwe has recorded 38,433 Covid-19 cases since March 2020 when the first case was recorded. A total of 1,576 people have succumbed to the disease.

In January, the government imposed a second lockdown due to a surge in the number of Covid-19 cases. On New Year’s Eve, three music promoters Dammer and his two other colleagues; DJ Fantan and DJ Levels were, nut later released on bail over Mbare New Year Eve concert which they had organized.

The all-night concert was attended by a mammoth crowd even as the country battled a new wave of rising infections. At the time, Zimbabwe had just recorded 1,365 COVID-19 cases in a single day. Some 34 people are reported to have died from COVID-19 on the same day that the event was held.
