Mavin Records is 9!

Some 9 years ago today, veteran music producer, Don Jazzy announced his new record label “Mavin Records”, a label birthed after the dissolution of legendary Mo Hits records. The label was home to one of the hottest Nigerian music property at the time D’banj who was also the co-owner of the label.

Mavin Records carried over artistes from the dissolved Mo Hits records with the exception of D’banj and his brother, Kayswitch and made a few more additions.

Wande Coal, Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid and D’ Prince started off the new project with Reekado Banks, Korede Bello and Di’ja joining up a little bit later.

The company has since added more talents, with the likes of DNA, Ladipoe, Johnny Drille, Crayon, Ayra Starr and superstar kid, Rema coming in later.

Don Jazzy’s eye for talent and his very vast knowledge of how the Nigerian music industry works have helped his artistes grow and deliver quality music back to back. The greater number of artistes on the label or those who have passed through it has at least one hit song to their name and asides from the number of talents it has at its disposal, that is surely another reason why it is rightfully regarded as the biggest record label in Nigeria.
