UPDATE: We Thank You For The Massive Support, Sauti Sol State

“Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home with the prom queen.” My auntie would always tell me. Well, Sauti Sol proved these words to be true in this year’s MTV European Awards in which they were representing Africa in the Worldwide Act category. They may have missed out on the chance to progress to the second and last phase towards being the ultimate representatives of the category, however what they achieved is being the first Kenyans to ever grace such heights; they went home with the Best African Act Crown.
They were running against artists from Middle East and India, a title which Mohammed Assaf claimed.They however had this to say to their fans who tirelessly numbed their fingers voting: “From the bottom of our hearts and the height of our voices; we thank you for the massive support and votes during the MTV EMA awards season. We are so proud and honored to be Winners BEST AFRICAN ACT 2014 MTV EMA. And the African Nominees in Best Worldwide Act category. It's an exciting time for African music, but even more exciting for us! More to share!”
This is indeed an exciting time for African music. I assume this is the feeling the Wright Brothers had when they first took off into the skies; African music is soaring at very different heights now, and Sauti Sol and the fans are the ones to thank.
