EXCLUSIVE: Meet Prisca Ojwang, Singer With Golden Vocals

Singing is a way of releasing an emotion that you sometimes can't portray when you're acting. And music moves your soul, so music is the source of the most intense emotions you can feel. When it comes to Kenyan singers, female artist Prisca Ojwang is one singer who I find is quite conscious of what she does. She paints a clear picture of what emotion would look like if it was solid; she makes it possible to touch wind.

And none of her works attest to the words above more than her single, ‘Lies I Told Me’.  The song is a rather subtle one, which builds energy as it proceeds with dynamics that would even have a rock curling up. Instead of a meandering chord, while she takes up a strong progression clearly points to a tonic note and chord. She sings of lost love and makes it sound like ‘hallelujah’ – towering over the blue message and turning it into a grandiose ballad.

Am sure we’ve all heard a person or two say “I don’t listen to this kind of music. It’s too soft!”. Well this is one of those songs that have such people having it as their guilty pleasures. The Instruments behind the melody will win you over as soon as the chorus starts! Other singers should learn from Prisca Ojwang! I feel like the lady emotionally  immerses herself into her crowd even before the song starts, subsuming into a group consciousness which in turn makes the song one with the listeners. A true artist!
