Ykee Benda Nominates Cindy Sanyu to Replace Him as UMA President

Celebrated Ugandan musician Ykee Benda has nominated Cindy Sanyu; the current Vice President of the Uganda Musicians Association to take over the leadership of artists’ body following his untimely resignation.N

Speaking during a recent interview, Ykee Benda noted that Cindy has what it takes to lead the association. According to Benda, Cindy is hard working and will therefore do all within her power to fight for artists.

Ykee Benda noted that he first held a discussion with Cindy and the UMA committee before making the announcement.

"Cindy Sanyu will sit in for me because she was my vice president. The news is just getting to the media but I had already discussed it with the committee before," he said.

Explaining why he resigned, Ykee Benda noted that he was tired of being attacked and insulted by artists, yet he was not gaining anything from the position.

"All this was out of good will so I decided to be selfish and choose myself. Artists are very complicated," Ykee said.

He apologized to Cindy and the entire UMA team for resigning three months after taking over from Sophie Gombya.
