Renowned Ugandan rapper Gravity Omutujju has weighed in on the recently concluded Kampala mayoral election, stating that veteran artist Jose Chameleone who was among the aspirants, is a better musician than politician.

Chameleone contested for Kampala mayoral position but lost to incumbent Erias Lukwago, who Gravity Omutujju campaigned for.

According to results by the electoral commission, veteran musician Daniel Kazibwe commonly known as Raga Dee came in third, while Chameleone was fourth.

This was Chameleone’s first attempt at politics having been in the music industry for close to 20 years. He was banking on his popularity and fanbase across the city to propel him to victory.

Reacting to Chameleone’s lose, Omutujju said he knew the ‘Baliwa’ hit maker stood no chance of winning despite his popularity as a musician.

"I knew from the start that he stood no chance. People we sing for or serve are not fools; they always know what they want because music is very different from the roles of mayorship.

"Jose Chameleone is a very good artist and I support him because he is one of the best in Uganda. I can't even go close to him but politics is very different," Gravity said during a recent interview.
