Just a few hours after their victory in the MTV Europe Music Awards, where they were crowned the Best African Act, Sauti Sol showed gratitude by feeding the world’s eyes with a new video which featured the ‘Kukere’ star, Iyanya! The remix to ‘Sura Yako’ is now the talk of the town.

And like always, the Midas touch they posses has gained the video over 5000 views on YouTube in just fifteen hours! As we celebrate the men who put Kenya on the map let’s see what a quotient of the five thousand people who watched the video have to say:

“I voted for Sauti Sol like crazy, but the remix is not doing the original version any justice! Bad execution of the song, especially when it comes to Iyanya; how do you put Iyanya at the beginning of the song?  He should have been at the climax of the song for a full effect of the surprise element. Forgive me but I feel like they forced the remix. Thank God they didn’t alter the original lyrics”

“I love it! Especially the dancing and the wardrobe! These guys are icons in both fashion and music. Iyanya seems to be teaching them some dance moves too. I love ecverything theirs is to the song. Enos Olik can make anything look good and that’s exactly what he did on this video. African music is getting worldwide recognition and it's our turn now. #Lipala #TeamSautiSol   #KEMusic” ·

“My view is that the original was way better but congratulations on the award. I'm so proud of these guys. It’s definitely been a long journey but the destination was worth every bit of the turns and twists. Am already voting them for the Channel O Awards, and so should everyone!”

“Wow! Am in love with this song. West meets East. Proud of you Sauti Sol and congrats on the award, we need a live performance as a reward. But also this remix is the best gift you could give Kenyans for voting”

“OMG! Iyanya completely destroyed the song. The original is way better! He was so off. I think I saw Victoria Kimani in the video; they should have let her sing instead. Imagine a female version of the song? That would be ingenious!”

“Sauti Sol, Africa is proud of you guys for keeping it original and coming out the best man! Keep it up and break all the boundaries, I mean with such a unique sound and voices, the Grammys are just an arm stretch away!”

Well the people have had their say and I won't  be the type to add salt to an already well done meal. No one knew they were releasing a remix so am still impressed with their dexterous nature of keeping us guessing. Have a look at the video and let Sauti Sol know what you think in the comment box below
