Veteran Nigerian musician D'Banj has started off his 2021 on a high note after dropping his first song for the year.

The new song titled 'Ikebe' is an impressive Afrobeats track in which the Nigerian musician, singer, songwriter, rapper, entrepreneur and television personality seeks divine intervention - asking that God helps him as he doesn't want to sin in 2021.

Produced by Rexxie, the new melodious song is fast paced and listening to it will give you an impression that the 40-year-old D'Banj famously known as Kokomaster is still very much into the musical game.

'Ikebe' is a Nigerian slang for a girl's behind especially a big one, and D'Banj uses the song to also ask the male gender to respect women - especially after a difficult year in which he was accused by a woman named Seyitan Babatayo of raping her in 2018.

The song already has an official lyric video posted on YouTube and many will be looking forward to its official video that will surely come at some point.

Just like many of his songs, 'Ikebe' is a fusion of Afrobeat and Afropop in which D'Banj uses a mix of Yoruba, English and Pidgin.

D'Banj uses Afrobeat and Afropop - as a tribute to his mentor Fela -to bring his music to life and into the 21st century with breathless enthusiasm as well as a good dose of humour.

His songs are based on his life, often hilarious but with a deeper meaning which documents the struggle of a young Nigerian trying to achieve his dreams.
