Rwanda’s gospel power couple Ben Serugo and Chance Mbanza have taken the gospel a notch higher. Known for their good music over the years, the couple have been ministering to millions of Rwandans.
However, the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 opened their eyes to another problem in the society which is the high divorce rate. Touched, they decided to address this issue differently through an educational perspective.

“Divorce is another ‘pandemic’ that very many people do not realise has already spread. We want to see people living harmoniously because if families are torn apart, it affects all aspects of life, including the society and the country at large,” Serugo told The New Times.
He added that this led to the birth of an educational series out on their YouTube page sensitizing people about divorce.
“That is how we came up with an educational series on our YouTube platform to address the conflicts that arise in nowadays families leading to divorce,” he added.
While they could have used their musical gift to send the message through, Mbanza says they realized not everyone enjoys gospel music. This is why they got working on the educational videos titled “Ibihe Series” which they share on social media and reach masses.
The reception so far has been amazing. With lockdown, they managed to warm themselves into the hearts of people. The Amarira hit singers say that it is possible to bring down the rate of divorce in Rwanda as well as domestic violence.
