2020 is a year that saw over 10 albums released by various Nigerian artists – from the Grammy nominated ‘Twice As Tall’ by Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage’s ‘Celia’, ‘Apollo’ by Fireboy DML to Davido’s ‘A Better Time’.

As we start 2021, we take a look at some of the Nigerian artists expected to release their albums within the first three or four months.

Liya

The Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) first Lady – Liya released her debut song ‘Melo’ under the record towards the end of 2020 and used the new song to announce that she was working on an album that she promised to release in 2021.

Because Davido promised to make Liya a global star when he unveiled her in October 2020, the debut album is definitely being anticipated by many music lovers in Naija.

Mr P – ‘Prodigal’

Mr P was to drop this album in November 2020 but he had to push it forward to 2021 “because of Coronavirus”.

The 16-track album is expected to be released this January and Mr P, formerly a member of the defunct P-Square has already released one single off the album – ‘Follow My Lead ‘featuring Wande Coal.

Naira Marley - 'GTTB'

On the New Year eve, Naira Marley announced that he would be dropping his debut album titled GTTB . We’re yet to know what GTTB means but what we know is that the album will be dropping either in March or April.

“So I’m dropping my Album GTTB 2021 March/April. Wh o can guess what GTTB stands for?” the Marlians president posted in a tweet dated 31.

Joeboy

With two songs off Joeboy’s debut album released in 2020, it more likely that the whole body of works will be dropping soon.

Joeboy had earlier been expected to release the album in 2020 but he ended the year with the single ‘Celebration’ to add to the ‘Lonely’ hit which he described as a taste for the album.

Rema

Rema has been a stand out performer among the new crop of Nigerian artists – winning multiple accolades within a very short time of his music career.

With no album to his name yet, the Marvin Records golden boy on January 4, 2021 dropped a hint that an album is on the way – while also promising “bangers all year”.

“Album, yes,” Rema tweeted.
