Renowned Kenyan producer and artist Magix Enga has opened up on the state of Kenyan artists in the country.
In an Instagram post, Magix who has worked with renowned artists in the country expressed that Kenyan artists lack money despite Kenya having more money than other countries with successful artists.
He also added that the government was being taken advantage of by cartels who run the music industry.

“Kenyan Artists are broke because the system can’t allow them to make money out of their Talents, hard work and efforts. The entire music industry is broke and run by cartels who take advantage of a weak corrupt government. The Government is bogus! Kenya ikona pesa kuliko Tanzania, Nigeria and South Africa but Its artists are the poorest. Hakuna msanii Kenya ameomoka...Not in this Government,” he posted.
This comes barely two days after Magix offered to support the forgotten massive talents and help them do professional and quality projects including free marketing.

This story can unfortunately be tied with recent events like the failed Gengetone Festival in Machakos, where the main artists refused to perform because they were not paid by the producers.
Willis Raburu aka Bazu who was the MC at the event came out afterwards to defend the artists, accusing producers of taking advantage of Gengetone artists and not paying them.
