It was a moment of joy and admiration for Zimbabwe when 18-year-old musician Blessing Chitapa won ITV’s The Voice UK on Saturday.

It was not a flat win; she is the first ever Shona girl to win the award in the spirited singing competition.

Chitapa is a UK-based Zimbabwean who lives in Dudely, England and has all thanks to give to her church, Cornerstone Fellowship International Church in West Bromwich where her parents are pastors.

She took the competition graciously and was coached by Olly Murs, a renowned British music enthusiast.

Chitapa praised Murs’ leadership saying that he has done it again.

“He did it again guys two time champ couldn’t ask for a better coach… only one who believed in my shaky little voice and it took me a long way. Olly God Bless you. You are welcome to the cookout. I can never thank you enough!! She wrote.

“So happy to have sung on this stage. It has been an honour and my privilege and it has been unforgettable.”
