Ziza Bafana Pleads with Ugandan Government to Reopen Bars, Concerts

Over the past few months, Ugandan artists have been pleading with the government to reopen bars and allow them back on stage.

In an interview with NBS, Ziza Bafana joined the growing lists of artists calling for the government to allow musicians back on stage.

According to Ziza Bafana, artists are the most affected by this pandemic because they heavily rely on shows and concerts.

"Just take an example of an artist who has all his life entrusted on music. Many young artists set targets and now they have lost a lot of money through this. What hurts the most is that our government has not gotten to than level to notice us and our contribution to this country, otherwise they would have let us get back to perform," Ziza Bafana said.

He gave an example of Eddy Kenzo who had invested millions of money in his festival dubbed 'Tweyagale Festival', but it was cancelled due to the virus.

According to Ziza, Eddy Kenzo invested lots of money, but was unable to get returns on his investment.

He wants the state to re-open bars and allow concerts with strict adherence to the set guidelines. Ziza argues that since churches and other social events have been re-opened, the government should extend the same to the entertainment industry.
