EXCLUSIVE: P Unit Reveal Inspiration Behind Their New Single Weka Weka
26 September 2014
The first half of 2014 has been a promising and fulfilling year for the musical group P Unit with the release of their single L.O.V.E and getting back to studio to finish on their 2nd album Wagenge Hao Tena which features amazing acts such as Collo, Sauti Sol, Ameleena, Alicious, Links and Klear Kut and other pan African acts like Radio and Weasel from Uganda and K'Millian from Zambia.
It's off this album that they debut a new single ‘Weka Weka’ , a Swahili word which in English means "Put Put"
"The title came up when Frasha was supposed to deposit a cheque for Gabu, and he delayed so Gabu kept calling asking "umeweka" (have you deposited the cash) ? So everytime Gabu called Frasha he kept saying "umeweka weka?".It was quite catchy for us and it inspired this song" revealed the band members through their press release

Quite a motivational piece, the song aims at simply encouraging people to put effort in everything that they embark on to achieve the highest goals possible. The song is based on a subtle tempo beat and quite groovy as compared to anything we have heard from the trio.
It will be available for download through a service called "Mziki na Mpesa", where you can download by paying Kshs 20 to the till number 866256 from your Mpesa menu-> Lipa na Mpesa-> Buy goods and services. A download link will then be sent to your phone for you to download the song.
The trio will be following up the release with a media tour through the next month and the video to 'Weka Weka' will be premiering after a month.
