Renowned Bermuda-born Kenyan-based dancer, choreographer, singer and songwriter Judge Jo-1 has dropped a new video dubbed ‘Boom Boom Bow’.

‘Boom Boom Bow’ is a riveting display of musicality and artistry. ‘Boom Boom Bow’ displays the originality of true black beauty at a time when it’s needed most.

‘Boom Boom Bow’ is a dancehall banger that lyrically compares thunder and lightning to the passion that exists between lovers. Their love is strong, fierce and connected. Their brown eyes peer into each other's souls and without a word, they create magic.

‘Boom Boom Bow’ is a celebration of all that is ancient and of all that is modern, of past and present African traditions combined.

Jo-1 the ultimate artist combines her ability as singer, songwriter, composer, dancer, conceptualist and director to create ‘Boom Boom Bow’.

In collaboration with Faces of Africa, Mzushi Jijo; the videography prowess brings  the project to life. The majestic backdrop of EyeQue Studios, Lavington Mall is the perfect setting for the thunder and lightning to strike.

While it was Kenyan photographer Benji Wanjohi  who is credited with the fire concept that is seen in the video, it culminates wildly with the synchronistic choreography of Quincy Icon.

Remnants of Kemet (Ancient Egypt) styled by Princess Zulu,  colourful masks,  incense and gourds in elegant, reverent fashion from Goodies Interiors, as well as fun dance vibes with fishnet stockings adorn the set.

The ending of the video features a crowd of dancers, b-boys and DJ Drift, who is also a b-boy. Colours, passion and vibrance describe this scene.

Another interesting note is that Jo-1's oldest son; Shai makes a cameo appearance in ‘Boom Boom Bow’. Jo-1 is very private about her personal life so we are surprised to see her son, all grown up and becoming an amazing dancer at the same time. Mom and son dance together but if you didn't know, one might think that Shai is her younger brother.
