Renowned musician Feffe Bussi has divulged why most Ugandan artists always complain about being broke despite being renowned personalities in the country.

Speaking during a recent interview, Feffe Bussi noted that artists are not earning enough to sustain their day to day life.

"The main problem in the industry is the way we earn. We do not earn like we are supposed to because people get our music for free without paying any penny. That is why you find an artist who has been in the music industry for a long time or has a hit song but he doesn't even have a car,” he said.

Ugandan artistes have for long struggled with parties who pirate their music, with some going to court to seek legal redress.

Feffe Bussi is, however, hopeful that things will get better for musicians once the right structures are put in place.

During the lock down in Uganda, it was evident that most artistes depend on revenue for shows to sustain their livelihood.

The cancellation of shows across the country exposed them to tough times, forcing them to cry out to the government for help.

The lock down forced several musicians to invest in digital platforms, with several struggling to get their songs on streaming platforms in a bid to earn some cash.
