Sinach's 'Way Maker' Named Song of the Year at GMA Dove Awards

The global single from Nigerian gospel singer Sinach dubbed 'Way Maker' has won the 2020 Song of the Year category at the 51st GMA Dove Awards.
The GMA Dove Awards Song of the Year is one of the two main categories which have been given since the 1st GMA Dove Awards in 1969.
Sinach who has since seen 'Way Maker' set several records this year including becoming the first african singer to have two covers of her song among the top 10 Christian Songs Chart in the US shared news about winning the accolade in a post on her social media pages on October 30.
She thanked a number of individuals whom she said have supported her from her husband Joe Egbu, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, her staff and fellow members of the Love world.

Sinach released the 'Way Maker' single on 30 December 2015. The song has been covered by a number of Christian music artists in 2019–2020 including Michael W. Smith, Mandisa, Leeland, Christafari, Passion Worship Band, and Bethel Music.
The song's video reached 100 million views on YouTube on 7 March 2019, making Sinach the first Nigerian gospel singer and third Nigerian singer overall to accomplish the feat.
Currently the 'Way Maker' video has over 160 million views.
