Rap music in Kenya has gone through numerous transformations; it has gone up the hill and come down trumbling, while other times it went up the same hill and mounted a flag of victory!
So is the way of life. Sometimes you break an egg while other times you are the egg. Rapper and Kenyan hip hop avant-garde Abbass Kubaff has seen it all done it all and even been it all! Heard of the phrase, “Been there, done that”? Well, this is the perfect person to respond in such a way.
He has been in the industry for more than 18 years making him one of the oldest rappers in the field as well as fairly influential. From rapping alongside Chiwawa and Bamboo, his longtime friends as K South to having a fall out with the same, he knows all there is to entertainment.
He is set to launch his album Ghettoholic tommorow at club Cubano and as we await the big launch, here are some of our favourite tracks from him over the years
