A year ago, Winky D was immersing himself on the glory of his then new song ‘Kasong Kejecha’.

‘Kasong Kejecha’ quickly became the political anthem for Zimbabwe’s opposition. Today, it enjoys the status of ‘commercially viable’ hits as it has surpassed one million views on YouTube.

However, even with its fame, it put Winky D through public humiliation when he turned up for a Christmas Eve gig but fans did the unthinkable to him.

When he walked on stage, he was met with hostility as empty cans of beers and other trash flew to the dias where he was set to perform. Sensing danger, he took cover in his car.

It was later reported that the assailants who did this had been hired by President Emerson Mnangagwa’s party to humiliate Winky D over his ‘Kasong Kejecha’ hit which the opposition had endorsed and was using it to send a powerful message.

Winky D enjoys a successful music career as a Zimdancehall artiste and he has not slept in his talent by using hard-hitting lyrics to criticize issues that have not been addressed appropriately by the government.

It is for this stringer reason that ‘Kasong Kajeche’ became an instant sensation to the opposition who felt that he had captured their grievances against the government of the day led by Mnangagwa.
