If you have a candid conversation with the old men and women who were once musical celebrities, they preach the gospel of “do not repeat the mistakes I did”. The thing is, music to a point where you become a household name in a country is a big achievement that takes a lot of hard work.

In fact, one of the two hardest things in this industry is coming to the top and maintaining that relevance years later. The latter is the hardest and Rwandan artistes have not been spared from this sad eventuality.

By experience, there are big names who are no longer what they once were in the industry. Reason? Pundits say the trajectory of ambitions was or is discordant with how much work they put in their music and when they do it.

Below are some of the big names in the music industry that are slowly waning:

Active Boy Band

Active comprising Safi, Platini and Derek Sano was once the most admired boy band in Rwanda, but this would not be for eternity as many had thought or as the bad had portrayed. Although the trio have not said it publicly, it is evident that they are going separate ways after Sano decided to launch his solo hits which are enjoying massive airplay. The thing with bands is; when they fade away, it becomes so hard for the members to have a high-flying solo careers; the dynamics of success always seem to be pegged on the working of the entire band.

Not that they are not making good music, but can you feel the energy that was there before in these low singers? Somehow, they may have soaked into fame and celebrity life that it carried a part of them that oozed charisma to Rwandans.
