Veteran Ugandan artiste Bebe Cool has expressed his opinion on a string of artistes rushing to join politics ahead of next year’s general election.

Ever since Bobi Wine made his way to the Ugandan Parliament as the Kyandondo East legislator, several Ugandan artists have shown political interest and desire to take up different positions.

Bebe Cool while speaking in an interview with Spark TV noted that these artistes will not be misses in the industry.

"They are useless to the music industry. They are only useful to their families and their direction of politics," Bebe Cool said, giving an example of Bobi Wine who he claimed has been in Parliament but never stood up to fight or say anything in defense of fellow artistes during their sessions.

"Bobi Wine has never said anything to fight for artistes so he is useless. They have never argued for us to see that they are fighting for us so they are only helpful to politics and the people that support them," he opined.

With the forthcoming elections in 2021, artistes like Jose Chameleone, Sophie Gombya, Ragga Dee among others have expressed their desire to take over different political seats at different levels.

Uganda’s population is largely youthful, with most of these artistes hoping to appeal to the youth who form a large part of the electorate.
