Could Tanzanian songbird, the 'Yahaya' hitmaker Lady Jaydee, be running out of artistic material? Well according to her facebook account, it seems so: “Hiki ni kipindi ambacho siwezi kutunga/kuandika nyimbo, sina hisia zozote an nikilazimisha hazitakuwa nzuri…. Huwa nakaa hata miaka 3 au 5 pengine mwezi moja au miwili au 6, yaani huwa haitabiriki, pale inapotokea tu ndio huwa. Natumaini jibu hii ni muafaka na litawaridhisha walio uliza, Poleni kwa kusubihri I wish ningeweza”

This is a common condition among artists where they get to that drought period of idea deprivation or rather a flat lining in their artistic careers. You need not worry world; she didn’t say she quit, she simply said she is not able at the moment.
I appreciate the level of honesty and concern from Lady Jaydee. She respects what her audience wants from her and hence refrains from making standards any lower than what she always has. We wish her a speedy ‘recovery’ during this artistically dormant period of her life.
