Over the weekend, legendary singer Jose Chameleone was sidelined by Bobi Wine's NUP party in favor of Latif Ssebagala.

This did not sit well with a section of artists who have condemned the move.

Uganda Musicians Associations President Ykee Benda has questioned Bobi Wine’s moving stating that he should support other artists looking to join politics.

On his social media pages, the Mpaka Records founder pledged his loyalty and support to Jose Chameleone.

He made it clear that he will be supporting Jose Chameleone for mayoral post come 2021 general elections.

"I am voting for Joseph Mayanja for Mayor of my city. I hope you also know we need a different type of leaders," Ykee Benda posted.

Over the past few weeks, we have seen Jose Chameleone's close friends like Gravity Omutujju and King Saha questioning his ability to become city mayor, thus supporting his rival Erias Lukwago.

Ykee Benda, however, believes that Erias who has been the mayor and wants a second term has not done anything to advance the city.

"Where is the progress? How many chances does someone need to make some progress?" Ykee Benda questioned a fan who said Jose Chameleone was not fit.

Jose Chameleone has already put in a petition disagreeing with the party's decision. He plans to come in as an independent candidate.
