When Cindy Sanyu broke away from the famous girl group Blu 3 in the early 2000's, she decided to go solo and never got signed under any management.

Such a bold move is always a challenge especially to upcoming female artistes who are on some occasions harassed and intimidated as they start their music journey. This is one of the reasons why Cindy opted not to have any management team besides her sister.

Speaking to Pastor Wilson Bugembe, Cindy broke down the disadvantages of being controlled by someone, comparing this relationship to selling one's soul.

"I'm the only artiste in Uganda who decided not to have management because I knew most times it involves you selling your soul or your values as a human being. As a woman, you only want to have one man in your life; the one you love, not the one who is giving you deals. Meaning, you want to fall in love genuinely.

“When you get a manager, sometimes you have to sleep with him so that he keeps on giving you deals. I decided not to have a manager and turned to my sister," Cindy divulged.

She further noted that she lost many opportunities when she decided to go solo, with many advising her to join a label in a bid to compete on an international level.

"I choose this life because I'm known all over the world with awards across Africa. My career may not be as fast as people expected because I decided not to join a particular cult, a ritual or sleep with a particular person. I want my things to be right, because then, God blesses me," Cindy opined.
