The power of one, if fearless and focused is formidable, but the power of many working together is an ebullient force like no other! Two Kenyan artists that seem to have discovered this little secret; the bodacious songbirds Yvonne Darcq and Victoria Kimani after they revealed on working together.

Speaking to Mdundo, Yvonne Darcq held our hand and took us through their upcoming single, : “Ooohlalaouioui, is a phrase that shows bewilderment of some sort. So the word comes in where I'm telling this guy who is hitting on me that I can see right through him and at the end of the day I know what he is trying to do. Like many of my other songs will speak for the female gender in trying to empower them, telling guys just because a lady has the looks doesn’t mean she lacks brains. We are not damn ‘blondes’” she discloses.

Yvonne Darcq is known for her numerous solo projects; so why did she choose to work with Victoria Kimani this time round? “Would you believe me if I told you that this song is a project we did 4 years ago? Victoria Kimani  and I have been friends for the longest time so when we first made this song we were simply having  fun in the studio and before we knew it ‘ooohlalaouioui’ was born! Knowing Victoria, you would know that she is ever busy; so 2 months ago we finally had the chance to lay down the final strokes on this song.” She made known.

This according to me is what I would call ‘merge of the Titans’, because both Yvonne and Victoria influence the Kenyan music industry in epically, via their repetition and reputation. With that said, this then might turn out to be the collaboration of the year!

Last time I checked the song was less than 72 hours away so now that number should have slimmed substantially! So mark your  calenders, make reminders and even write it across the surface of the moon if you can because you cannot afford to miss out on this one!

Love new music? Keep it Mdundo!
