Big Sean is making a full back with a new album dubbed ‘Detroit 2’. It is a beautiful piece of art meant to be a continuation of his 2012 mixtape ‘Detroit’.
‘Detroit 2’ is a rap album with which Big Sean is reminding people that he is a great rapper. Even now when his name holds weight on its own, Big Sean is still coming to his own on ‘Detroit 2’ and he feels like he is still trying to prove himself. We listen to a Big Sean with better mastery of his rap, flow, lyricism and delivery.
Unlike ‘Detroit’ which was an ode to Big Sean’s hometown Detroit, ‘Detroit 2’ takes us deeper into Big Sean’s life. He takes us through his growing up, his health struggles and his past relationships and still takes time to represent his hometown.
The 21 track album is a beautiful embodiment of everything Big Sean represents. ‘Detroit 2’ features interludes by Erykah Badu, Dave Chappelle and Stevie Wonder. It also features musical features with Jhene Aiko, Lil Wayne, Travis Scott, Ty Dolla Sign, Anderson Paak, Post Malone, Wale and more. Big Sean also features the legendary Nipsey Hussle including a snippet of Nipsey talking about him and Big Sean working on a project.
