Brandy and Monica gave us a legendary Verzuz show on the 31st of August and one day later, we now know how that has shifted the culture.

Brandy and Monica have been collaborators with voices that easily complement each other beautifully. Therefore the Verzuz battle was highly anticipated and immediately gained a lot of traction as soon as Timbaland and Swizz announced it as their next Verzuz battle. The musical battle that was held on the 31st held a viewership of an average 1.1 million views for all the three hours it was live.

After the battle, it became apparent, without doubt that these two queens contributed to the RnB culture in an unmatched way. These two gave us most of the timeless RnB anthems we jam to at karaokes or in the shower. With that same impact, they are still shaping the culture.

After the Verzuz battle, Brandy’s new album ‘B7’ went up to chart at number 1. Brandy performed one single, ‘Borderline’ off of the new album and it too charted top on the charts. This is good considering that Brandy had not been able to release new music for a while because of label issues.

Besides that, both Brandy and Monica had their older albums get back into the top 40 charts. The two RnB queens performed most songs off their older albums and it must be that people really wanted to experience their music afresh after getting snippets of it.

Verzuz continues to do this and so much more for the culture and we cannot wait for the next Verzuz battle to be announced, Timbaland and Swizz have both promised it will be legendary.
