Award-winning Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz has hit a new milestone in his career becoming the first East African artiste to hit four million subscribers on YouTube.

His YouTube channel has been growing over time, with his consistency being one of the key reasons behind his growth.

Thanks to the massive following on YouTube, Diamond has over 1 billion views on the platform, making him the first African artiste to achieve that fete.

To date, Diamond has posted over 600 videos featuring music, behind the scenes and tour performances.

An overview of Diamond’s YouTube channel shows that to date, one of his most successful songs is Lingala hit ‘Yope’ remix featuring Innos’ B with over 100 million views in slightly over ten months.

Diamond’s high viewership on YouTube is due to the fact he sometimes posts more than one video version for a single song.

For example, his ‘Jeje’ single has at least three video versions on YouTube.

In June, he was recognized by Billboard as one of the artistes making a kill on YouTube, with the publication noting that other artistes should emulate him.

“Western artistes can learn from what African artistes are doing, particularly the ones who have broken internationally,” the article said in reference to Diamond.
