28 August 2014
Great news from the Mdundo Camp this week, Khalid Mohamed best known as TID (Top in Dar) officially signs onto the online distribution platform; the 32 year old Tanzanian Bongo superstar is known for his hit songs like ‘zeze’ and ‘siamini’. The 2008 Kisima award winner started singing in 1994 with a group known as Black Gangsters before going solo five years later.
Having a great musician like TID join the platform is proof of the continued support and belief in us on the industry’s part. Tanzania has been particularly supportive with over 200 artists and 30,000 subscribers using the site.
Thiru Mungai, Mdundo’s Head of Music explains, “We appreciate the positive response we are getting from the African music community. With TID joining us it is his stamp of approval and we appreciate it.”
The nearly 2 year’s old online distributor is working on expanding even further into the African market over the next couple of months. With artists like Ice Prince, M.I and Sauti Sol, Mdundo has on average 120,000 fans visiting the site monthly.
Mdundo.com enables artists to upload and manage their music from their website as well as track each download they get. In addition, Mdundo offers artists News and Social Media facilities to keep their fans updated. The platform organizes and works with industry-related events and initiatives that benefit their artists directly.
