Shatta Wale Makes the Cut on Obama’s Summer Playlist

Former US president Barrack Obama has shared a list of songs that made the cut on his summer 2020 playlist, one which features one of Ghana’s most renowned dancehall artistes Shatta Wale.

“Over the past few months, I’ve spent a lot of time listening to music with my family. I wanted to share some of my favorites from the summer, including songs from some of the artists at this week’s @DemConvention. Hope you enjoy it.” he tweeted.

Three African artistes that made to the first black president of US’s list are Nigeria’s afro beat musicians Burna Boy and Wizkid and Ghana’s dancehall artiste Shatta Wale.
On his list of 53 songs, is ‘Already’ by Beyonce featuring Shatta Wale and a Major Lazer that was released in 2019 on The Lion King: The Gift album. Ghanaians were delighted to have one of their own represent them on an international platform with Queen Bey to shoot the video which currently has over 19 million views on YouTube.

Other major artistes on the list include Beyonce, Nas, Rihanna, J. Cole, Frank Ocean, and Nina Simone. Mr. Obama revealed that some of the songs on the list will be played during this week’s Democratic National Convention.
