Locally, King Kaka, an award-winning artist and Rémy Martin Brand Ambassador took to Instagram to announce his second upcoming film ‘Kabati’ (Wardrobe). He encouraged his followers to plug their actor friends, makeup artists and film enthusiasts. For those upcoming acts lucky enough to get a chance to feature or work on the film and get paid, this not only gives them confidence to work on more gigs but also acts as a great boost during this terrible pandemic.

In 2019, King Kaka released ‘Majuto’ (Regrets). The miniseries cast Maxwell Simba ( ‘The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind’), cementing his position as a talented actor and giving others opportunities. The 11-part series which was set for a cinematic release on March (COVID happened!) is available for viewing on YouTube.

And who knew P Diddy was making his way to Africa? P Diddy’s Revolt TV recently signed a deal with two local artists, Remmy Majala and Nick Ndeda, for an unscripted series titled ‘What’s Good Africa’. The half-hour series which premieres on August 12th on NTV Kenya, will cover “all aspects of hip hop culture in Africa, from emerging artists to fashion, sports, entrepreneurship, events and parties among other entertaining aspects.”
