Ykee Benda believes she is the right candidate for job as she has been vocal on matters concerning Ugandan music.

"I'm so happy because she is a strong woman who has stood and fought our battles all this while since the Save Ugandan Music campaign,” he opined.

Other artistes who contested for the post include; Mary Bata and Mariam Ndagire.

According to Ykee Benda, the association’s board identified 3 potential candidates and subjected them to a vote, with Cindy emerging victorious.

"We never used any criteria, people just voted. It was a poll with the list of names of the women who we thought were capable and we submitted them to the people, who voted for who they want,” Ykee Benda said.
