Cindy Sanyu Steers Clear of Politics, Claims Taking a Position Could Hurt Her Fans

Award-winning Ugandan artiste Cindy Sanyu has maintained that she is not interested in joining politics like some of her colleagues have done.

While a number of artistes have come out to express their interest in seeking political seats, and others giving their opinion on political issues, and who they think is best suited for leadership, Cindy says she has no interest in the same and will stick to doing her music.

"It hurts both sides. Obviously I have my own opinions, the leader that I want to vote for. I have at heart, everything I love and I will vote for the person I want to but I do not want to come on TV and say it because both sides have been oppressed and yet I have fans on both sides. I do not want to annoy any of them,” she said.

She believes that the power of an individual to effect change is in his/her vote, and therefore all those qualified to vote should exercise their democratic right when the time comes.

"Even when I shout without voting, it will not count. So I'm gonna keep my power and just vote my leader but I will not come out on TV and talk about it," Cindy said.
