Legendary Ugandan artiste Jackie Chandiru has opened up on the break-up of former girl group Blu*3 which dominated the East African region over a decade ago.

The Ugandan all-female band was formed in April 2004 after winning the TV show Coca Cola Popstars.

The group had three members namely; Jackie Chandiru, Lilian Mbabazi and Cinderella Sanyu.

In an exclusive interview with Jalang’o TV, Jackie Chandiru noted that Cindy left the group in her on will, adding that she had been promised a record deal in Spain.

However, thing did not work for Cindy, and she contacted the group requesting to join them again.

According to Jackie, they organised for her to come back but she didn't get on the flight as organised.

"One of us was convinced by somebody that she could have a record deal in a different country, in Spain actually. When she got there, she realized that a black person can't have the kind of career that was promised to her there. That is when she decided to contact us but before that, she had told us that she was not coming back, and that she was settling there. When she found out it couldn't happen, that is when she called back and asked to come back, we definitely said yes,” she said.

According to her, Cindy never returned as promised, and when she did, she told a different story that made people hate her, over claims that she made her kicked out of the group.

"We organised a flight for her and somehow she just did not get on the flight. When she came back, it was a different story that she told to instead make us look bad. Basically she said I pushed her out of Blu*3. I was hated for a long period of time but I kept begging the management to just publish the messages to prove that I didn’t do this but the management just told me to leave it alone," she divulged.

She, however, noted that she has moved past it, adding that she does not directly talk to Cindy but she talks to Lilian Mbabazi because their bond was so strong.

"Our relationship became much stronger at that point because we had to keep something. This was like a dream for all of us and we had to keep it," Jackie said.
