The management team of Tanzanian rapper Rosa Ree has come out to explain the reason behind launching a copyright claim against Harmonize’s song ‘Amen’.

On Sunday, the song was pulled down after Harmonize used a beat from Rosa Ree’s ‘Kanyor Aleng’ song.

Harmonize’s song was meant to pay tribute to the former President the late Benjamin Mkapa.

Speaking on Monday, the management stated that Rosa Ree’s song was only two weeks old, and there were plans to do a video.

The management noted that in view of the above, the sampling by Harmonize will affect its commercial perspectives.

“Ni wimbi haukuwa umekamilika kutoka, video tulikuwa tunapanga kutoa hivi karibuni...kuna mambo haikuwa imekaa sawa,” said the management team.

The team noted that Harmonize did not consult Rosa Ree as required by the law.

Despite the song being a tribute, Rosa Ree’s team noted that Harmonize was to benefit financially without considering the rapper’s interests.

On chances of the song being uploaded on YouTube again, the management stated that there will be no negotiations for such a move.

By press time, Harmonize had not issued a statement regarding the decision to pull down the song.
